Junior High? Guess I’m writing for the Lowest Common Denominator

Phew! Check me out. I’m smarter than a 5th grader (“I thought Europe was a country”).

I actually came across something like this earlier in the year for our school newspaper. The reading level is determined by the length of your sentences and the “bigness” of your words (I think…if I’m wrong, someone please correct me). Looks like, if you teach 11th grade long enough, you internalize “simple.”

Hey, I don’t need to feel smart. More people should “get” what I write. (I hope.)

Challenging Education Week on Journalistic Standards…

I haven’t read the whole letter yet, but I applaud those who are not afraid to stand and and call “entities” on their mistakes. It’s about time.  Thanks to James Crawford for his post.
